Training - CAFS Drill
On Saturday morning June 30th 2007 firefighters drilled on the new Compressed Air Foam System that will allow firefighters to use foam to put out fires faster and more effectively by mixing a dish type soap into the water making the water last longer and smothering the fire faster then just plain water. Engine 53 was retro fitted with this new system and will be used on most fire they fight. The 15 or so firefighters on hand used different types of nozzles and large adapters to create heavy and light foam for different firefighting jobs.
