MVA Rt. 46.
Friday, August 17th was a busy day for firefighters. Firefighters started out at 4:30am with a tractor trailer crash that shut down Rt. 46 for eight hours flowed up by a Haz-Mat call and a second crash on Rt. 46 sending two to the hospital then around 4:00pm a reported of a house fire came in at the corner of Sandshore Rd. and Netcong Rd. First arriving chiefs found a 2-story wood frame with fire in the rear of the house. The home owners were saying that someone was still in the house so Assistant Chief Maloney did a quick search and found a male sleeping on the second floor and evacuated him from the house. Squad 56 arrived shortly there after and stretched a one inch and three quarter hand line to the rear of the house and quickly knocked down the fire as a second crew went up stairs and did a search and found all people were out of the house. The fire was brought under control in a half hour there were no injuries at the scene. Flanders, Netcong and Schooley's Mt. Fire companies along with Flanders and Budd Lake First Aid Squads were called to assist. Firefighters ended the day with a third car crash on Rt. 46 sending one to the hospital.
