Tractor Trailer Vs Car - Rt. 80W
| Budd Lake, Byram, and Allumuchy
Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported Truck Vs Car MVA with
entrapment on Rt. 80 W mile marker 25.9. Chief Maloney "Car 50"
arrived on scene first and confirmed heavy entrapment and alerted
Dispatch the accident was actually mile marker 22.8. Chief Maloney
updated incoming units the car was under the wheels of the tractor
trailer with a victim pinned. Byram Fire arrived on scene and
assisted Budd Lake fire with setting up air bags and rams to lift
the truck. Due to the load in the trailer command determined the
trailer to be to unstable to lift with the rams. Byram units then
attached the winch to their rescue and with guidance of the
paramedic team, slowing slid the car from under the wheels. The
patient was then removed and transported 200 yards up the highway to
the waiting helicopter. NJSP are investigating the accident.
