Rt. 80 MVA's during Ice Storm
Friday morning's rain turned to ice as it hit the pavement. Four separate accidents on Interstate Rt # 80 sent a dozen people to the hospital and involved almost two dozen vehicles. Roads iced over and traffic blocked the way for emergency workers to respond. Two ALS units responded to assist with the injuries. Tractor trailers and a water truck leaked fluids as firefighters assisted by the Morris County Haz-Mat boomed storm drains and contained the leaks. Salt trucks squeezed into the scene to make the scene safe and so the roadway could be reopened. Budd Lake Fire and First Aid was assisted by Flanders Fire and First Aid and Roxbury Company #2.
