Budd Lake Firefighters hold Fire Prevention Open House

Fire Prevention week started out on Wednesday morning October 7th when firefighters visited the elementary schools and day care centers in the Budd Lake Fire District. The firefighters gave the students some fire safety tips and tours of the fire truck, this continued on Thursday and Friday as well and the week ended on Saturday with and open house at the fire house.

 

Saturday morning October 10th 2009 started out gray and threats of rain but it turned out to be a wonderful sunny day. The event started out at 10:00 am and lasted all day till 3:00 pm with lots of displays of fire equipment, coffee, bagels, hot dogs and soda for all. Some of the highlights the visitors were treated to, were demonstrations on putting out kitchen fires that some adults participated in and firefighters showed off there skills in fighting car fires. The kids were taught abought stop drop and roll, dialing 911 and what it is like to sit in a real fire truck. The day attracted over 200 kids and 100 parents a great time was had by all.
