Budd Lake Assist Flanders with Extrication on Rt. 206

On Monday Memorial Day around 3:00 pm just as the temperature hit around 90 degrees the Flanders Fire and Rescue were dispatched to Rt. 206 in front of the golf zone for the head on crash. Chief 90 arrived and found two cars with double entrapment and requested Squad Co. 56 from the Budd Lake Fire Department to assist with the extrication. Flanders Rescue 97 started on the car still in the roadway with one person trapped and hade to remove the roof from that car to free the person just as Budd Lake was also starting to do the same on a car that was on the grass with one person trapped in that car. Atlantic and Flanders EMS transported both people to a nearby landing zone for transport by NJ State Police Helicopter to a local trauma center. The highway was shutdown for several hours while Mt. Olive Police and The Morris County Accident Investigation Team conducted the crash investigation.
