Budd Lake Rescues Woman from Apartment fire

Early Saturday morning July 24th around 1:30am the Budd Lake Fire Department was dispatched to Eagle Rock Village for a fire alarm. Upon arrival of the police they had a smoke condition with a woman still inside, officers tried to enter the apartment but were driven back by heavy smoke. Car 52 Asst. Chief Sheard arrived and quickly put his S.C.B.A. on and went into the smoke filled apartment and pulled the victim to safety just as engine 53 was arriving followed by Budd Lake EMS who quickly transported the victim to St. Barnabus Burn center. Engine 53 knocked down the fire with one inch and three quarter line and performed ventilation and overhaul. The Flanders fire and Netcong fire companies were also on scene to assist. The current condition of the female is knot known and the fire is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police and Fire Marshal’s offices as well as the Morris County Prosecutors office
