Fire and Rain on Rt. 80 in Budd Lake

Tuesday September 6th Budd Lake Firefighters responded to Rt. 80 at exit 27 for the report of a truck fire, first arriving chief’s 50 & 51 reported a fully involved truck fire. Engine 59 and Squad 56 arrived and stretched two hand lines and started to knock down the fire Tender 57 came in and supplied water to E-59. Crews had tuff conditions to work in the rain was coming down heavy and the diesel fuel burning and running on the highway. Command special called Flanders Fire Rescue 97 and Morris County Haz-Mat to assist with containing a diesel fuel spill from the trucks saddle tank. There were no injuries and the roadway was down to two lanes for most of the morning.
