Three Alarm Fire in Budd Lake Apartment Building

Sunday August 25th around 2 in the afternoon calls came into the 911 center reporting a fire in the Hensyn Village Apartments building E first arriving units found a fire in a back bedroom and venting out the rear window Squad 56 arrived and stretched a line in to the fire encountering heavy smoke and zero visibility. Ladder 58 was next to arrive and assisted with the extinguishment of the fire as others set up for a vent of the roof Flanders Fire arrived and went to the rear of the structure and sent a crew to the second floor and started pulling celling’s and found heavy fire in the roof area. Hackettstown Fire came in and split the crew, half went to the second floor exposer and started pulling celling’s while the other half went to the roof and open up. Several other departments started to arrive and assisted in checking other apartments and putting up ladders to the second floor. After operating for twenty minutes all crews were pulled out and Ladder 58 and Tower 96 went defensive on the roof for a bought ten minutes and then crews went back in and knocked down the fire and continued with overhaul for the next hour. Due to hummed conditions the rehab area was a busy place but no firefighters were injured a female pregnant resident was transported to the hospital as a precaution.  The Mt. Olive Police, Fire Marshal’s Office and the Morris County Prosecutors Office are investigating the blaze. The following Fire Companies responded to the scene or for station coverage Flanders, Netcong, Chester, Hackettstown, Stanhope, Schooleys Mt., Randolph, Roxbury, Mt. Arlington, Byram and the Mt. Olive EMS task force. The Morris County Mutual Aid Coordinators also assisted.
