Dumpster Fire Damages Flanders Home

Wednesday March 18th the Flanders Fire Department was dispatched to Red Maple Lane for a dumpster fire Mt. Olive Police arrived first and reported the fire had started to extend to the front of the house and dispatch hit a township general alarm bringing the Budd Lake Fire Department to the scene as well. Car 91 arrived and requested a second alarm be dispatched, Engine 95 and Tower 96 were first due and started off with a blitz fire line and knocked down the bulk of the fire a crew from engine 95 and squad 56 attempted to go inside and knock down the rest of the fire but were pulled out due to the light weight construction starting to take off and the fire extended quickly into the hole roof area. Crews went defensive with the tower and several master streams. There were no injuries and the home owner was not home at the time of the fire. The fire is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police and Fire Marshal’s office. Chester, Netcong and Hackettstown fire companies were on scene along with cover assignments.
