Car Catches Barn on Fire in Flanders

Friday April 3rd just as the sun was going down calls came in for a car fire next to a garage on Flanders Drakestown Rd. in the Flanders section of Mt. Olive, the police were the first to arrive and reported a car fire with extension into a barn and had a city wide tone dispatched bringing the Budd Lake Fire Company to the scene. Chief 90 arrived and reported a two story barn with the front on fire and had a second alarm dispatched, the owner of the property used a back hoe to drag the car away from the barn just as Engine 95 was pulling in the driveway with the car away from the barn the crew quickly extinguished the barn and then the car. Squad 56 arrived and provided water to Engine 95 and the crew assisted with overhaul. Flanders and Budd Lake Fire operated for an hour and a half with assistance from Chester, Hackettstown and Netcong fire companies along with other cover assignments. There were no injuries at the scene and the fire is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police and Fire Marshal’s Office.
