Crawl Space Fire in Vasa Park

Budd Lake and Flanders Fire Companies responded to the Cultural Center in VASA Park for a report of a smell of smoke Car 51 arrived and reported a smoke condition Engine 53 arrived and started to search for the smoke and found a fire in the crawl space that was under the boiler room. Crews from Flanders assisted Eng. 53 with trying to break through the concrete floor to get to the fire. Command called for a second alarm due to man power help needed, crews were able to break through and extinguish the remaining fire. There were no injuries but the center had to be closed for at least a week to make repairs.
