Law Offices Damaged By Fire In Mount Olive

2/3/17 Mount Olive fire units were dispatched at approx. 12:15 am for reported smoke from a building on Park Place in the Flanders section of the township. Upon arrival of patrol they reported heavy smoke from the attic. Shortly after Flanders Car 90 arrived and reported heavy fire from the first and second floor and requested a second alarm. Engine 95 arrived and stretched an inch and three quarter line into the first floor but were soon forced out do to a floor collapse on the first and second floors crews went to a defensive attack with Budd Lake’s Squad 56 set up on the bravo side and several hand lines were put in place along with a tower ladder and a deck gun. The building was a balloon frame old building. Crews went back in and were able to get the fire under control within an hour, one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injurie. Units remained on scene until approx. 05:00 am Chester, Netcong and Hackettstown Fire Companies were on scene to assist with other companies covering the stations. The fire is under investigation by the Mount Olive Fire Marshal's office and the Mt. Olive Police.

Car Fire At Chili’s & Elect. Fire At Lowes

Recently Flanders and Budd Lake worked some small fires together, firefighters were dispatched to the parking lot of Chili’s for a car fire on arrival the fire was extinguished by the owner Engine 56 and Rescue 97 checked out the car and made sure the fire was completely out and returned to service within a half hour. There were no injuries. Firefighters also were called to Lowes for flames coming from the roof area when they arrived there was arcing coming from the roof edge. Crews shut down the electric and secured the wires in the roof area the stores electrician was called and the crews were released.

Firefighters Extricate One On Flanders Drakestown Rd.

Recently firefighters were called to the intersection of Flanders Drakestown Dd. and Vista Dr. for a car crash with entrapment Squad 56 and Chiefs 50 & 51 arrived and started to remove the person from the car Budd Lake First Aide transported both drivers to area hospitals. Crews cleaned up and the road was opened within an hour.   

Tractor Trailer Overturns On 80 In Budd Lake

Friday 2/3/17 Crews from booth Budd Lake and Netcong Fire Departments had only been home for 2 hours after battling a house fire in Flanders when they were dispatched to Interstate 80 west at mm 26 for a tractor trailer overturned when crews arrived the tractor trailer was on its side and leaking  fuel from the saddle tank. Squad 56 with the help from Netcong engines contained the leak and stood by while the tow company off loaded the fuel into 55 gallon drums and then up righted the truck the road was reopened within an hour. There was one injury that was transported to a local hospital.
