Morris County Region 4 Firefighters Train Together

Morris County Region 4 mutual aid group held its second joint training drill at the Morris County Fire Academy Sunday April 11th 2010. Training was broken down into three sections RIT training; foam lines and firefighter ladder bail out. The drill started at 9:00 am and wrapped up with lunch around 12:30 pm. There were 50 firefighters from 6 departments Budd Lake, Schooleys Mountain, Long Valley, Randolph, Mendhem Twp. and Flanders Fire Department’s all training together.  

Budd Lake Firefighters Make Quick Work Of Car Fire In The Firehouse Parking Lot

The firefighters used one line to extinguish a small fire in the engine compartment of a car that stopped in the firehouse parking lot and called 911 to report the fire.

Firefighters Cleanup Haz-Mat By Lake

Around 1:00 am on Friday morning April 17th Budd Lake Fire Firefighters responded to the intersection of Sandshore and Elizabeth Lane for the smell of gas. After checking storm drains the crews traced it back to a gas station on Rt. 46 where a delivery truck earlier had overfilled the tank and gas was running into the storm drains. The crews from Engine 53 and Special Services 54 put out pads and booms in the lake and storm drains to soak up the gas. Morris County Haz-Mat and the county prosecutors office were called to the scene to assist. Crews were released around 4:00 am and returned around 2:00 pm to help flush the drains as a cleanup company was called in to finish the clean up.  

Budd Lake Fire Assists Washington Township

Friday April 16th around 11:00 am the Washington Township Fire Companies were dispatched to 442 Naughright Rd. for the kitchen fire. Upon arrival of Chief Griese he reported a working fire in a one and a half story wood frame and requested Budd Lake Fire Co. for the F.A.S.T. assignment. All three Washington companies responded and stretched two inch and three quarter hand lines on the fire and had a quick knock down of the fire. The house was on a small farm and was built in the 1800’s damage was mostly in kitchen and front of the house. There were no injuries and the fire was under control within thirty minutes.
