Budd Lake Quick Knock On Car Fire

Last month Budd Lake Firefighters were dispatched to Bridle Lane for a car fire in the driveway. Car 51 and 50 arrived and reported a working car fire in the engine compartment Engine 59 arrived and pulled the front line and had the fire knocked down within 5 minutes keeping a classic car in front to only minor damage. There were no injuries and units returned to service with a half hour.    

Down Wire On Mt. Olive Rd.

Firefighters were dispatched to Mt. Olive Rd. and Vista Drive for a wire down Engine 53 and Car 50 arrived and found a primary line had fallen into the roadway and burned into the road surface causing a huge fire crews closed parts of the area and waited for JCP&L to shut down the power. The fire was put out and the road was damaged and had to be repaired by the road department .   

Animal’s Rescued From Rt. 80 Crash

Last Saturday night firefighters were called to Rt. 80 for a multiple car crash with a horse trailer overturned Car 50 and Squad 56 arrived and found 2 car and a truck and horse trailer involved in the crash. 2 people were transported to a local hospital Emergency personal worked on finding an empty trailer to remove a horse that was injured and a sheep both were in the overturned trailer. The crews found someone to come out and assist with removing the horse and sheep and both were taken to a animal hospital in Morristown. Crews cleared 2 hours later and the highway was reopened.

Budd Lake Fire Trains On Car Fires

Budd Lake Fire Department recently went to the Warren County Fire Academy for some training on putting out car fires. The crews took turns extinguishing fire on three different cars honing their skills on attack and opening car hoods. The fire department responds to on average 4 to 6 car fires a year.   

Fire Fighters Play Dodge Ball

Last night members of Budd Lake FD were invited to play dodge ball with our mutual aid departments. Departments participating were Hopatcong FD, Netcong FD, and Mount Arlington FD. Firefighters Extinguish Small Brush Fire

Budd Lake Fire was dispatched to the area of 162 Stevens State Park Road for a report of an illegal open burn units arrived to find a 25 x 25 area of sticks and brush burning. Chief 50 advised Engine 53 to use a trash line on the fire, the fire was kept from spreading and all units returned within a half hour.

Firefighters Handle Dumpster Fire

Firefighters were called to Eagle Rock Village Building 41 for a dumpster fire upon arrival car 50 and 51v had a 15 yard dumpster fully involved engine 53 was instructed to stretch a 1 inch trash line on the fire. There was no damage to other areas around the dumpster and the fire was quickly put out and units returned within half hour.
