Firefighters Respond To Overturned Dump Truck

On Monday August 12th the Fire Department responded to Mckelvie Street for a report of a dump truck on its side. Squad 56 and Car 51 and 52 were on the scene and assisted the tow company with clean up and securing the truck the driver was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Just as the Holliday weekend was getting started contractors on Mckelvie Street were calling it a day but this bobcat operator started his holiday with a wild ride. As his day was finishing the power cut to the machine which also cut power to the brakes he rolled backwards over a 100ft hitting his bosses truck parked at the bottom of the hill smashing the truck Squad 56 responded and cleaned up some oil and secured the truck for the tow truck. Firefighters Respond To Village Green For A Boiler Fire

In early August Budd Lake and Flanders firefighters responded to the Village Green Apartment complex for a fire in the boiler room of one of the buildings crews stretched one line into the fire and made quick work of the small fire. Other units assisted with venting and securing the building.  

Engine 53 Responds To Waterloo Rd. For A Tree Company Truck Fire

In early August firefighters were alerted to a truck fire on Waterloo Rd. in the area of #80 Engine 53 Car 51 and 52 arrived and found a tree companies crane hit some live wires and started the trucks tires on fire Engine 53s crew stretched a one inch line and hosed down the tires and the cranes pads the drivers was not injured and there was minor damage to the truck.

Three Alarm Fire In Budd Lake Apartment Building

Sunday August 25th around 2 in the afternoon calls came into the 911 center reporting a fire in the Hensyn Village Apartments building E first arriving units found a fire in a back bedroom and venting out the rear window Squad 56 arrived and stretched a line in to the fire encountering heavy smoke and zero visibility. Ladder 58 was next to arrive and assisted with the extinguishment of the fire as others set up for a vent of the roof Flanders Fire arrived and went to the rear of the structure and sent a crew to the second floor and started pulling celling’s and found heavy fire in the roof area. Hackettstown Fire came in and split the crew, half went to the second floor exposer and started pulling celling’s while the other half went to the roof and open up. Several other departments started to arrive and assisted in checking other apartments and putting up ladders to the second floor. After operating for twenty minutes all crews were pulled out and Ladder 58 and Tower 96 went defensive on the roof for a bought ten minutes and then crews went back in and knocked down the fire and continued with overhaul for the next hour. Due to hummed conditions the rehab area was a busy place but no firefighters were injured a female pregnant resident was transported to the hospital as a precaution.  The Mt. Olive Police, Fire Marshal’s Office and the Morris County Prosecutors Office are investigating the blaze. The following Fire Companies responded to the scene or for station coverage Flanders, Netcong, Chester, Hackettstown, Stanhope, Schooleys Mt., Randolph, Roxbury, Mt. Arlington, Byram and the Mt. Olive EMS task force. The Morris County Mutual Aid Coordinators also assisted.

Van Fire On Orchard St.

Friday August 30th firefighters were dispatched to Orchard and Church streets for a van on fire Engine 59 quickly knocked down the fire in the rear of the van. There were no injuries and the Mt. Olive Police and Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the fire.

Budd Lake Assist Flanders Fire At House Fire

Sunday September 1st Flanders Fire Company was dispatched to Hillary Drive for smoke coming from a house Engine 95 was out just around the corner on a fire alarm they responded quickly and stretched a hose line on the fire in a laundry room. The crews keep the fire to that room with some minor smoke damage. Budd Lake’s Engine 59 assisted with the fire. One child was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Squad 56 And Tac 55 Respond To Rt. 46 For The Oil Spill In The Roadway

Crews responded to Rt. 46 in front of My Sweet Cleaners for a 5 gallon spill of some type of oil in the roadway crews put down speedy dry and cleaned up the road and had it back open within an hour. The State D.O.T. also responded and assisted.

Firefighters responded to the top of the mountain by Johnson Doge for a truck overturned units on scene secured the truck and waited for the tow company to upright the truck. The Budd Lake First Aide Squad transported the man to an area hospital for minor injuries.

Budd Lake Fire Assists Haz-Mat At Rt. 46 Crash

Firefighters assisted the Morris County Hazardous Materials Unit with up righting some 55 gallon drums that fell over after a tractor trailer was hit by a car on Rt. 46. The tractor trailer driver came to a sudden stop and the load in the trailer shifted so the crew of Squad 56 helped Hazmat Technician’s secure the drums luckily the drums did not leak and were safely up righted and secured in the trailer.
