Budd Lake Makes Quick Work Of Kitchen Fire

On Wednesday October 6th late in the afternoon Budd Lake firefighters responded to South Hillside Ave for a kitchen fire. Engine 53 arrived and stretched an inch and three quarter hose line to the front door but used a fire extinguisher to quickly put out the fire on the stove. The fire was small but the smoke damage was much larger. There were no injuries reported and the home owners were able to go back to there home.

Budd Lake Firefighters Douse Truck Fire On Rt. 46

Thursday October 14th around diner time Firefighters responded to Rt. 46 across from the Subaru dealership for the pick up truck on fire. First arriving Chief car 52 reported a working truck fire and instructed Engine 53 to stretch their car fire line on the fire. The fire was contained to the engine compartment with extension into the cab of the truck. There were no injuries at the scene and crews cleared within a half hour.

Budd Lake Fire Prevention Week 2010

Budd Lake Firefighters started fire prevention week on Wednesday October 6th with visits to the elementary schools and many day care faculties in town and wrapped up on Saturday October 9th with an open house that featured fire trucks, equipment and lots of displays. Firefighters did demonstrations on stove fires and car fires. There were lots of fire safety things for the kids to participate in as well as lots of refreshments and food. All had a great safety day.

 

Squad 56 Assists In Dog Rescue

On Thursday afternoon October 14th The Budd Lake Fire Department was requested to Rt. 46 and Netcong Rd. to assist Animal Control in rescuing a dog trapped under a car after the dog was hit trying to cross Rt. 46. Squad 56 arrived and using the manpower they lifted the car by hand and the dog was freed. Animal Control officer Cirone transported the dog to the nearest Animal Hospital where the dog was treated and is going to be ok.  

Mt. Olive Garbage Truck Catches Fire

During the Wednesday morning trash pick a garbage truck started smoking at the corner of Smithtown and Robins Lane as a precaution the truck was escorted to the transfer station in Flanders. There the load was dumped on the ground and Engine 53 from Budd Lake and Engine 95 from Flanders pulled apart the garbage and hosed it down. There was no damage to the truck.
