Fire And Rain On Rt. 80 In Budd Lake

Tuesday September 6th Budd Lake Firefighters responded to Rt. 80 at exit 27 for the report of a truck fire, first arriving chief’s 50 & 51 reported a fully involved truck fire. Engine 59 and Squad 56 arrived and stretched two hand lines and started to knock down the fire Tender 57 came in and supplied water to E-59. Crews had tuff conditions to work in the rain was coming down heavy and the diesel fuel burning and running on the highway. Command special called Flanders Fire Rescue 97 and Morris County Haz-Mat to assist with containing a diesel fuel spill from the trucks saddle tank. There were no injuries and the roadway was down to two lanes for most of the morning.

Budd Lake Assisted Firefighters from departments in Byram, Flanders, Netcong and Stanhope using aerial ladders from Flanders and Budd Lake that were parked on an overpass in the International Trade Zone, the firefighters hoisted a 17-foot wide flag over the Interstate to thank about 1,000 motorcyclists riding from Michigan to New York City’s as part of a fund raiser for the families of firefighters and EMS personnel killed in the terrorist attacks 10 years ago.

Firefighters assisted EMS and Police as a driver lost control of his SUV turning onto Netcong Rd. from Rt. 46 the driver and two children were transported to Hackettstown Hospital.

Flanders and Budd Lake Firefighters were stretched thin as a third round of flooding this time worse than the hurricane. This time firefighters rescued 5 people from cars stranded in water and pumped another 150 basements.

Budd Lake & Netcong Extricate One On Interstate 80

Monday afternoon October 5th rescue units from Budd Lake and Netcong were dispatched to Rt. 80 East at MM 26.2 for the crash with entrapment. Units from Roxbury Police and NJ State Police arrived and stated medical treatment on a female that was ejected from a SUV, Hackettstown EMS arrived and took over patient care as Squad 56 and Rescue 77 started working to extricate a second patient who was trapped in the driver’s seat of the overturned SUV. Netcong Fire assisted with the removal of both patients and also with cleanup and scene safety. The female was transported by air to Morristown in critical condition the Male was transported to Morristown by ambulance. The highway was closed and then down to two lanes for most of the day while State Police investigated the crash.     

Budd Lake Fire Prevention Week 2011

Budd Lake Firefighters started fire prevention week on Wednesday October 12th with visits to the elementary schools and many day care faculties in town and wrapped up on Saturday October 15th with an open house that featured fire trucks, equipment and lots of displays. Firefighters did demonstrations on stove fires, car fires and Vehicle Extrication. There were lots of fire safety things for the kids to participate in as well as lots of refreshments and food. All had a great safety day.

 

 

Budd Lake Assist Flanders At Bon Fire

Mt. Olive High School held there fall sports bon fire and pep rally at the old Blue Atlas grounds. The firefighters from Budd Lake and Flanders started and extinguished the fire it was a good night for school spirit.
