Two Cars Burn Halloween Night In Budd Lake

With the loss of power due to the 19 inches of snow that fell in Mt. Olive Halloween trick or treating was canceled but not firefighting as firefighters were called to the Kings Village Apartment Complex for the report of a car fire. Upon arrival two cars were burning Engine 59 and Squad 56 made quick work of the fires as the neighborhood came to life with power. There were no injuries and the Mt. Olive Police in investigating the fire.

Budd Lake Assists Netcong Fire On Stool Street

Sunday November 6th fire units responded to a house on Stoll Street and found heavy smoke coming from the chimney and the house was full of smoke so command called Budd Lake Fire a R.I.C. assignment and the second engine in laid a supply line. Upon further inspection the fire was contained to the furnace and the chimney area, crews used a dry chemical extinguisher to knock down the fire and then removed the smoke. The basement was flooded due the lack of power the day before. All companies returned to service within a half hour.

Suspicious Package Brings Out Bomb Squad In Budd Lake

Wednesday morning November 9th around 7:30 am a State Trooper was in the Dunkin Donuts on Rt. 46 in the Village Green shopping plaza when a worker reported a suitcase outside the door that had been there overnight, the trooper notified the Mt. Olive Police and as a precaution they contacted the Morris County Bomb Squad. The county arrived as police were evacuating the mall and cordon off the area. The Budd Lake Fire Department and Hackettstown EMS were also on the scene, the county’s bomb tech was suited up and took and x-ray of the suitcase that was found to be just personal belongings. The Police were trying to contact the owner of the suitcase. The shopping center was reopened around 10:30 am.    

Budd Lake Fire And Rescue Units Respond To Rt. 46 For The Rollover

Saturday morning November 12th around 5 am units responded to Rt. 46 and Mt. Olive Rd. for the overturned car with wires down Chiefs Maloney and Sheard arrived and found a SUV on its side and the driver missing. Squad 56 and Rescue 77 set up lights as Police searched for the driver on nearby streets. Police located the driver and first aid checked out the driver that was not hurt but was arrested for leaving the crash scene. The road was down to 2 lanes for most of the morning as power crews repaired the pole.    

Engine Compartment Fire Handled In Budd Lake

Friday November 18th just as crews were clearing from a serious car crash on Rt. 46 a call came in for a car fire on Wolf Rd. and Aldersgate circle. First arriving crew found a car with heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment of the car and instructed Squad 56 to stretch there bumper line on the fire as Engine 53 used a saw to cut the hood open crews had the fire knocked down within five minutes and there was no injuries at the scene.   

Generator Smoke Leads To Mulch Fire

Budd Lake Fire units were dispatched to a smoke condition in the Village Green apartment complex. As units checked the area it was found to be a generator for a pump station that kicked on because of a power outage while in the area smoke was coming from a pile of fresh chipped mulch. Squad 56 with the help from maintenance spread out the pile and hosed down the pile.
