Budd Lake Fire & Rescue were dispatched Tuesday February 15th late afternoon to Continental Dr. for a car over the embankment. Car 52 Asst. Chief Sheard arrived and advised incoming units the car was 35 feet down the hill and in the river. Squad 56 and Rescue 77 used ropes, stokes basket and the ice rescue sled to bring up one victim, the other victim pulled herself up the hill with the assistance of firefighters. The SUV was leaking oil into the river so members of Tactical unit 55 placed booms in the river to catch any product as command called for Morris County Haz-Mat to respond to finish the clean up. Both victims were transported to Hackettstown Hospital by Hackettstown EMS with minor injuries. The crews remained on the scene for 4 hours while the two-truck company pulled up the car from the river.
